Forward Outlook Emails to Another Email Address

When you Forward an email:

  • You must specify the recipients in the To, and may also enter additional emails in the Cc or Bcc fields.
  • Any attachments included in the original email are automatically included.
  • Additional attachments can be added.

To forward a single email

  1. Select the email you wish to forward.
  2. Click Forward on the main Outlook Ribbon.
    Note: If you opened the email, click Forward from the Message tab at the top of the email.
  3. A new email opens. This email contains all content from the email you are forwarding. The Subject remains the same with the addition of FW: at the beginning. You can edit this if desired.
  4. Enter the recipient address in the To field.
  5. Type in your message at the top of the body of the email.
  6. Click Send.

To forward the email as an attachment

  1. Click Attachment instead of Forward on the main Outlook Ribbon.

To forward a single email

  1. Select the email you wish to forward.

  3. If the email contains images in the body of the text (not as an attachment), you may see a pop-window regarding the image.
    This can include screenshots, web images, and images in the signature (such as the block A).
    1. An Automatic Picture Download pop-up window appears, which prompts you to choose to include images located on the email server.
      1. Click No if you don't care if the image is included in the forward.
      2. Click Yes if the email contains images you need access to retain in the forwarded email.
  4. A Draft email appears.
  5. This email contains all content from the email you are forwarding. The Subject field remains the same with the addition of FW: at the beginning. This can be edited.
  6. Enter the recipient address in the To field.
    1. If you're forwarding to another email you own this is that other email address.
  7. If you want to add additional text, add this to the body of the email.
  8. Click Send.

To forward the email as an attachment

  1. Double click to open the email.
  2. From the top ribbon, in the section for "Reply," "Reply All," and "Forward" click More icon/drop-down.
  3. Click Forward as Attachment.
  4. A new window now displays with the email showing as attachment.
  5. Enter any other relative information (such as "To," "Subject," and message text as explained above) and click Send.

To forward a single email

  1. Open a browser and navigate to outlook.office365.com.
  2. Log in with your NetID and password.
  3. Select the email you wish to forward.
  4. Click the forward arrow near the top right of the email.
  5. A new email opens. This email contains all content from the email you are forwarding. The Subject field remains the same with the addition of FW: at the beginning. You can edit this if desired.
  6. Enter the recipient address in the To field.
  7. Type in your message at the top of the body of the email.
  8. Click Send.

To forward the email as an attachment

  1. Click the New Message button from the top left.
  2. Drag the email you wish to forward into the body of the blank email.
    1. When you do this you'll see colorful icons and "Drop Messages here."
  3. The attachment now appears appears above the body of the message (and below the subject line).
  4. Enter any other relative information (such as "To," "Subject," and message text as explained above) and click Send.
